Just a quick reminder our Second Irish Open Spaces Coding Day.
As we mentioned in previous meetups, we are organizing a coding day the 24th of April in UCD, it should be a fun day of hacking some code. One of the really cool things is that James Gregory will be there talking about Fluent Nhibernate.

We are going to be discussing the diferent Ioc frmeworks we use, Ideally you should commit some code into the repo or add a link here ( usingsomething like gist or similar) so we cna have an idea in advance of why you love (or hate) a particular IoC container.
Please leave a comment to let us know if you are coming.

BTW, we tried a more discussion oriented meet up the last time and it was really interesting.
We started off discussing Web Frameworks and we went through the pros and cons of them, then we moved on to mobile devices and the future of development in those devices, heavy mention of iPhone, android, and the N900, and much more.

Hence we need to change the date of the next meetup to Wednesday the 20th of January.

Basically, instead of someone responsible of presenting a topic, we are going to try this approach of discussing a topic as a group, so please read up on it and be ready to contribute.

There is a conference in the UK, called DeveloperDeveloperDeveloper, it happens in several locations across the UK and it even came to Ireland once, ( last year it was in Belfast…) .
This conference is free and Community driven and well wondering if other people are interested in going.

I m writting this post in high spirits. ( and no I m not drunk ..yet )
Just really happy that we got Dublin Alt Net off the ground and all that’s happened this year, including some really interesting talks , visitor talks ( Thanks again Seb), a successful Book club where we meet every week, and most important of all, the opportunity to meet and talk to people that are as passionate about this “programming thing” as we all are.
Thanks all and lets make the next one even more amazing.

Just a quick note to let you know of the book club tomorrow at 7pm
Important note: Change of venue , we are moving to O Callaghan Hotel, to the one in the corner Lower Merrion Street and Fenian Steet, in the lobby ( across the road from Kennedy’s really)
Another thing we wanted to try is a code Kata, so once we finish discussing chapter 2 and 3 of Refactoring…
we will try a code Kata ( if you have an excercise you want to try we are all ears) If you are interested, bring your laptop.
