Thanks to everyone that came to the last meetup, I think deployment is a really big subject, and ti would be great to get more knowledge in the area.
I would still like to see capistrano in action in the hands of an expert, push it to the limits. And we definitely need better tools in the .Net space ( or to learn about them if they are out there and we are not aware of them), What is everyone using?
Anyway, moving on…
Behavioour Driven Development is the topic of this meetup
- Jon Hurd is going to talk about Cucumber
- Ruben Bartelink is going to introduce us to SubSpec

I hope everyone had a good time at IOSCD last Saturday the 24th of April.
Thanks to our Hosts: the Open Source Labs at UCD and our sponsors JetBrains, Manning and Microsoft for their support
The sessions were:
- Oook!
- Rx
- Cucumber with Iron Ruby
- pLinq and Mono
- Mongo Db (a bit of a comparison between .net implementation and a ruby implementation)
- shytecode ( saw this in the repo, not sure how far it went)
Please add a comment here for any relevant info and particularly if you wrote a blog post about it
To everyone that came Thanks a million and also I invite you to please let us know how can we make the event better by sending us some feedback ( we ll email you a form in the next few days), however if you feel teh urge to say something now, dont restrain yourself adn add a comment
Also there this idea of having virtual meetings monthly? bi-weekly? using some sort of video conferencing facility, thoughts on thsi one highly apreciated.
Thanks again for coming along, and looking forward to the next one, should be in a few months.
Hi all:
Crazy times, volcanoes going off, sunshine for a few consecutive days in ireland
This month we are rediscovering(?) Deployment.
Diego Veralli will be talking about Capistrano,
Andrea Magnorsky will go through some terminology on deployment
Hopefully this presentations short 20 min will be followed by a heated discussion on the subject and surely some war stories ( you can cry too its okay)

Hi all:
Just a quick reminder our Second Irish Open Spaces Coding Day.
As we mentioned in previous meetups, we are organizing a coding day the 24th of April in UCD, it should be a fun day of hacking some code. One of the really cool things is that James Gregory will be there talking about Fluent Nhibernate.
You should visit codingDay.org for registration and more information.
Hi there
Our Next meetup is the 24th of march at 7pm in Seagrass
We are going to be discussing the diferent Ioc frmeworks we use, Ideally you should commit some code into the repo or add a link here ( usingsomething like gist or similar) so we cna have an idea in advance of why you love (or hate) a particular IoC container.
Please leave a comment to let us know if you are coming.
Questions and comments are also welcome
Hi all:
Next Meet up: Wednesday 17th February 7pm Seagrass ( as usual)

We have a calendar that you can subscribe to, you can do so here
BTW We need a Apple DVI to VGA Display Adapter , if you have one and you can bring it on the day please also comment on the thread. Thanks
BTW, we tried a more discussion oriented meet up the last time and it was really interesting.

Hi all:
Just got an email from the people at Seagrass, basically they can’t open on tuedays anymore.
Hence we need to change the date of the next meetup to Wednesday the 20th of January.
Topic and all the rest remains the same.
Can you please reply here to let us know if you are coming?
Thanks
Andrea
Hi all:
New year new format
.
Basically, instead of someone responsible of presenting a topic, we are going to try this approach of discussing a topic as a group, so please read up on it and be ready to contribute.
The topic is: Web Platforms ( ie: Open Rasta, ASP.NET MVC, Monorail, FubuMVC, Webforms, etc)
- How are they different?
- whats good and what s bad about them?
- When to use one or the other?
- How about smaller frameworks?
- How simple it is to host them in a different platform
- … etc
See you there
Please note change of Date due to Seagrass now being closed on Tuesdays (….)

Hi there:
There is a conference in the UK, called DeveloperDeveloperDeveloper, it happens in several locations across the UK and it even came to Ireland once, ( last year it was in Belfast…) .
This conference is free and Community driven and well wondering if other people are interested in going.
More details on the proposed sessions here
When 30th of January
Where Reading, Uk ( so far the quickest way to get there seems to be plane to Heathrow and then coach)
If you are interested in going and want to do an “Irish convoy” please reply here.
