Hi there:

Just a quick note to let you know of the book club tomorrow at 7pm
Important note: Change of venue , we are moving to O Callaghan Hotel, to the one in the corner Lower Merrion Street and Fenian Steet, in the lobby ( across the road from Kennedy’s really)

Another thing we wanted to try is a code Kata, so once we finish discussing chapter 2 and 3 of Refactoring…
we will try a code Kata ( if you have an excercise you want to try we are all ears) If you are interested, bring your laptop.
See you there

Open Spaces Coding Day Review

Hi all:

Ten days ago we had our first Open Spaces Coding Day.

There was a few hicups in the organization ( there was wifi there was no plugs) .

We were 7 people, as we all arrived we discussed what we were going to do and then we did it =).

We did some WPF, some Mono hacking(Declan fixed some bugs and committed the changes), and finally some Open Rasta(all of us wanted to be part of this session so we were all trying to create a simple app based on it, and  Diego made it run on Mono)

You can find all the code in our repo. You might wonder why is it important to commit the code  we do on that day( I know I did), I think it helps keeping the group focused a little bit and it really does work well as a reference back to what happened during that day.

I hope to hear from people to see if we should try to organise another one in January?

I think the venue did not work for us, we need somewhere not too noisy, with plugs and wifi.Suggestions as always very welcome.

Cheers

Open Spaces Coding Day – 14th Nov Noon

Yay, been looking forward to this =).

Open spaces coding day on Saturday the 14th of November at noon in Costa Coffee Dawson street.

What?

The idea is to meet up and code, we are most likely gonna remain on the .net platform, and there is  interest in Mono.

Open Spaces , what happens is whatever you want, really. It depends greatly on the people involved. A lot of inspiration came from the Open Space Coding Day in London

Preparation

Bring your laptop ( and charger =), if you have  a 3G dongle bring it too ) and if there is any library you have an interest in, try to download it and get the sources before the event, we have wifi access, but you never know how reliable will it be.

Outcome

The only expected outcome is to publish the code we do.

Agenda

12.00 Session organization. Split into groups by topic

12.30 Sessions

13.30  Break and re grouping by topic

14.00 Sessions

15. Retrospective
Edit: Just in case there is this post, about why we need to save the code and why we are not building an app
